||Fabulous Friday Finds:February 28, 2014||

Check out my fab finds this week!!
I just love these skinny jeans form Old Navy. I don’t usually buy jeans from there, but I could help myself. These are perfectly distressed and and super comfy. I also scored the red flats, and cant wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear them soon! The utility jacket has been featured a few times on my blog currently and its going to be a staple in my closet for spring. Sorry not sorry for the copious amounts of that jacket you will see. And I got my glasses from Bonlook this week and Im in love with them!

I’m so ready for this weekend! Although its going to be very very cold tomorrow, I’m looking forward to going to a hockey game with my love and just relaxing, not doing anything all day.

I went with a basic all black outfit today with my favorite blazer as a pop of color. I was originally going to wear a skinny cropped trouser, but the weather is just too cold for it.

Thursday Blogger Crush::Kendi Everyday

This weeks blogger crush is the lovely Kendi of Kendi Everyday
I stumbled upon her a few years back and fell in love with her casual breezy  style. She always looks so effortlessly put together.

She also has a great little bit on learning how to remix your closet, which is what really inspired me to utilize my closet even more and start my own blog. Check out her 30×30 remixes. A 30×30 remix is picking 30 pieces and remixing them for 30 days, not repeating an outfit. I still have yet to participate in one of her challenges and I really should, but its such a great way to learn whats in your closet and using it to its fullest extent and not wasting space. I think we all can relate to buying that one random item we wore once then throw it in the back of the closet, never to be worn again. (I know I’m not the only one who is guilty of this!)

She also owns her own little boutique called Bloom in Texas and features items from there quite frequently in her outfits of the day, but her closet is filled with a lot of items that the everyday women can find, like Target, Old Navy.

If you’ve never heard of Kendi, go check her out and follow her blog!

P.S. Im entering a giveaway over on Fred Rongo for a free blog design, go check out her blog as well!

Time after Time……

Good morning my lovelies!!

I don’t know about you but I’m happy its Thursday! One more day of work til the weekend!
Another long week, I think I must have cabin fever, I just want to get out and go do something, but I’m so tired and worn out at the end of the day and its too cold. Hurry up spring, we are anticipating your arrival!

This dress, I LOVE this dress, I got it at H&M this fall and it was marked down from $50 to $18 and I had a $10 gift card, so I only spent $8 on it. That is a killer deal, and I just adore the pattern, its like a mix of gemstones, very different and unique. It brings the right pop of color to my wardrobe without being too flashy! I FINALLY got my glasses in the mail yesterday and I’m so happy with them. I love Bonlook. $99 for prescription glasses and they have the cutest frames to choose from. This is my second pair from them, and I love the tortoise shell pattern, and the shape is chic and slightly nerdy, just what I was looking for. They lend an air of sophistication, don’t you think?

Happy Thursday!

Manic about Manicures

Hello lovelies!!

Thought I’d share a tidbit today about my latest obsession, gel polish.
My entire life growing up, I’ve had crummy nails. They are weak and thin and break off or chip very easily. My mom tried to tell me that drinking plain gelatin in o.j. would help my nails be stronger, let me tell you, nastiest thing I have ever drank in my life. (Maybe that’s where I get my aversion to pulpy o.j.) Since I played the piano I just resigned myself to never having long nails.

I tried keeping them looking nice by getting acrylics all through my teens and early 20’s but was always frustrated when the nails were removed and my nails would break off back on the nail bed itself. So that was the end of the acrylics for me. I was tired of my nails being filed too thin and having to go months for my nails to be whole again.

My sister in law suggested that I just keep them painted and filed, that it would help keep them from breaking. Now while that would help, I would, 1. Get bored of the color fast and then I’d remove the polish with acetone, thus drying the bejeezus out of my nails making them brittle, or 2. I’d forget to take the polish off and would have ugly chipped polish and since I work in an office and shake peoples hands frequently, that is not the most prettiest sight to behold.

Then I discovered gel polish, and hallelujah, the perfect solution for me. I can keep my nails exactly the way they are growing, no nasty filing down of my nail bed and they last for 3-5 weeks! I don’t have to worry about the polish looking dingy, or the bulk of an acrylic making it difficult to type, or take my contacts out, or even let my fingers dance over the ivories without thinking I’m going to catch my nails in between the keys.

If you’ve never tried gel and you HATE acrylic, give it a try, its a great alternative and your nails will always look beautiful and pristine as the day you got them done! Plus side, they seem to be cheaper than acrylics in my area!

P.S. Local readers, I suggest going to Georgie Girls on Mission and having Amber do your nails!

Happy Hump Day::Utility Chambray

Hello lovelies!!

It feels good to be back in “real” clothes, and by real clothes I mean clothes I don’t have to shovel snow in. We got dumped on Monday and received like 5 inches of snow. Thankfully it was warmer yesterday and the snow is starting to melt. I keep telling myself, March comes in like a lion, so hopefully this is the last of the snow we will get!

On to the outfit!

I finally got myself a great utility jacket over the weekend and its become a staple in my wardrobe. Its perfect with jeans, but great to throw over a skirt or a dress. And Chambray, I LOVE chambray, I feel like it can be a great neutral to go with anything. With darker denim, over a dress, with colored jeans, the list goes on!

I kept it kind of simple today, nothing too crazy or over board.

Skirt: Iris(from TJ Maxx)
Chambray: Target(This season)
Green Utility Jacket: Old Navy(this season)
Shoes: Mossimo for Target (this season)
Necklace: Target(clearance, this season)

Enjoy your Wednesday!

||Tip Tuesday: Florals||

Hello my lovelies!!

I don’t know about you, but I am seriously over the winter weather. Up here in good ole Washington State, We’ve been getting bipolar weather. The weekend was gorgeous on Saturday, and then I woke up to nasty snow and blustery wind on Monday that is continuing on this week. And then it’s going to be 42 degrees on Thursday. Talk about strange.

Now since the weather is so yucky, I wanted to talk a bit about floral print. I’ve kind of fallen in love with it and yes, I know its kind of cliche to think about floral for spring( anyone seen Devil Wears Prada? I automatically hear Miranda saying, “Florals? For spring? Ground breaking”) but there is just something that’s cheery and fun and full of life about florals.

I think that florals can be done in the right way, you just have to find a print that works for you.
Lets go through the different styles of floral you can bring into your closet.

image from Confessions of a call center gal
What I like about the above image is that the floral isn’t big and bold. It has a more timeless and sophisticated feel to it. This would be great with a cute pair of kitten heels and a cardigan at the office, or a denim jacket and some sandals or even converse to make it a bit more casual. If you are a classic gal, look for a print similar to this.

Now this dress and print are a little bit more modern, with still a classic feel. I love the one color palette in the flowers. It makes it seem less busy. I feel like a monochromatic palette lends more of an elegant feel to your outfit, and the flowers don’t seem outdated, but young and fresh.

These two prints make me think Vintage/Country. I think that the smaller the print, the more country(depending on the style of dress) or vintage it looks. Its more reminiscent of by gone days. In fact the dress on top reminds me of the 90’s a bit.

These last two prints are Big and Bold. I love both of them. I think the Maxi helps keep the proportions of the bold flowers, even though they aren’t bright. And the bottom dress, is my favorite kind of floral print. It looks like watercolors to me. A more muted, soft tone, but bold and fun at the same time.

Whats great about floral prints, is its easy to accessorize. Pick a color that’s featured in your print and make that the color to accessorize with or play it safe by sticking with neutrals. Florals can be casual or dressy, carefree or sophisticated. Its up to you and what you want to convey to the world for that moment.

Glam up your wardrobe with some “ground breaking” floral and have fun!

Splurge or steal {February 24, 2014}

Hello lovelies!
Hope your Monday is going great! I’ve decided that with all the craziness that ensues on Mondays, I may forgo an outfit post and instead do a Splurge or Save post.
I’m a very active person and love to work out, and I’m always on the lookout for deals on gear.
While I LOVE the look of Lululemon, my budget just doesn’t allow for me to spend that much on workout clothes. One day I started looking for something just as cute but much more budget friendly, and I found Kiava( formally known as Livefit)
I have the exact clothes listed under steal, and the quality is right on point.
Sometimes you don’t need to waste money on a name brand and you can still get great clothing for a better deal!Splurge or steal 2/24/2014

These are a few of my favorite things… 2/23/2014

I love this floral letter from HelloCharlotteJames Etsy shop I think that would make a cute DIY with a cardboard letter and some silk flowers. Great way to bring Spring into your home!

Speaking DIYs check out these cute little vases that you can make with bottles from around your home and spray paint

This week I’m making this delicious stew

And since my honey and I love us a good whiskey, I thought it might be fun to try a few of these mixed drinks

And even though I’m not much of a baker, I kind of want to make these delicious cookies

Have a great Sunday night, hope your Monday mornings all go smoothly!

Weekend Roundup {February 21st- 23rd 2014}

Hello lovelies!
How was your weekend?
Mine was eventful. Yesterday my honey and I had breakfast at a local diner in a little town outside of Spokane a little ways called Couer D’Alene. The diner was an old school 1950ish style, with AMAZING food. If you live in the area try Jimmy’s down the street in CDa. Its kind of become a tradition in the weekends for my honey and I to meet up and get some food together and then grab coffee and spend the day together hanging out. After driving around CDa for a bit we stocked up on food for dinner and headed home to whip up Mountain Meatballs for dinner and catch up House of Cards. Have you watched that show? We are kind of addicted to it. If you like politics, then definitely check it out

This morning I woke up to snow, blech, so I donned my boots and a sweater. Meet up with my honey and we got coffee at a local shop, Wakeup Call then headed to the SkyWay Cafe over by Felts Field airport. I quite enjoy spending time with my honey one on one talking about life and getting to know each other a little better. After breakfast, we split ways and I did some window shopping, and went browsing through Barnes and Noble and then went to get my nails done up.

The rest of my day shall be spent curled up on the couch with the puppies I’m watching and watching Mr Selfridge(another great tv show!)

Enjoy your weekend!
